Energy retrofit

75% of buildings in Europe are in need of energy retrofitting. Discover Olimpia Splendid's solutions for a sustainable energy transition.

In Europe, 36 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions and 40 per cent of energy consumption are caused by buildings, where 80 per cent of requirements are related to the production of climatic comfort and domestic hot water (source: TEHA and Enel Foundation dossier, 2024.). To implement the European Union's Green Deal, the transition of the built environment is therefore among the most important challenges in the HVAC world. In this context, heat pumps represent a key technology to improve efficiency and use of renewables and Olimpia Splendid a qualified partner to reduce the impact - architectural, economic and social - of retrofit

Hybrid system
Even when retrofitting the system is not possible, there are solutions to electrify and make efficient - quickly and easily - at least a portion of comfort-related consumption. By means of intelligent thermostatic valves, it is in fact possible to connect existing radiators to an alternative generator and programme scenarios that activate one or the other, depending on external climatic conditions. Thanks to these solutions and to a flexible control system, such as Olimpia Splendid's OS Home, it is thus possible to create a hybrid system, where the comfort produced by the gas boiler alternates with that generated by air-to-air heat pumps without an external unit from the Unico® range: a full electric technology, efficient, easy to install and with a reduced architectural impact.

Air-to-air system
Air-to-air heat pumps without an outdoor unit make it possible to electrify and increase comfort without major masonry work, without the need to occupy space on balconies or terraces, and without the need to work on all rooms at the same time. Unico® by Olimpia Splendid is a complete range of solutions for system retrofit: maximum power up to 3.2 kW in heating and 3.5 kW in cooling, horizontal or vertical layouts and different installation possibilities make them suitable for any project. And to guarantee heating capacity even in particularly cold weather conditions, versions with integrated 2 kW electrical resistance are available. Finally, integrable mechanical ventilation units allow air exchange with heat recovery.

Air-water system
For complete system upgrading, air-to-water heat pumps combined with fan coil type terminals are the ideal solution. Olimpia Splendid's Sherpa heat pump range stands out for its double refrigeration circuit that allows the parallel production of comfort and DHW. A technology, the latter, which makes it possible to increase efficiency, thanks to heat recovery during cooling, increase the self-consumption of energy produced by the photovoltaic system, increase the amount of DHW available and reduce the overall dimensions. To cool, heat and dehumidify rooms all year round, Olimpia Splendid instead offers fan coils that operate by forced convection and, during the winter, also by natural convection and radiation (i.e. with the fan off).
